How to Measure for an In-Between Glass Venetian Blind
Follow these steps to ensure accurate measurements:
-
Open the window
If the window is a double-pane casement (a window with two sashes), you need to open the sashes to access the space where the blind will be installed.
-
Measure the width
Measure the exact width of the space between the window sashes. Take the measurement from the inside of one sash to the inside of the other.
To ensure the blind fits and can move freely, subtract about 3-5 mm from the total width. This prevents the blind from being too tight.
-
Measure the height
Measure the height from the top of the space down to the bottom, from the inside of the upper sash to the inside of the lower sash.
No deduction is needed for the height. However, you may choose to order a slightly longer height if you want the bottom rail to rest against the bottom sash.
-
Check the depth
Check the depth of the space to ensure the blind will fit. This depth should be sufficient to accommodate the blind's mechanism and slats. Measure the distance from the inside of one sash to the inside of the other. The depth should be at least 27 mm.
-
Record the measurements
Write down all the measurements you have taken: width, height, and depth. Double-check the measurements to ensure they are correct before ordering the blinds.
Use a measuring tape or similar tool with millimeter accuracy. Note all measurements on paper and be careful to write: Window Width x Window Height precisely in millimeters.
- Width: Reduce by 3-5 mm in total (1.5-2.5 mm on each side).
- Height: No deduction (add +5-10 mm if desired).
